Presidents Message

President’s Notes

Dear Fellow Probians.

I am pleased to advise that Bert Guy has offered to be the Club’s treasurer. I am in the process of having Bert authorised to operate the Club’s account with the National Bank and settle this position. A special thanks to David Brown for filling in and performing the treasurer’s position till he leaves in early May for a holiday overseas.

Jeny and I attended the Movie groups film at the Palace Cinema Balwyn. During the pre – show advertisements there was an advertisement for Morgan Glen iris – Assisted Living which featured Bern and Kay Connell.

Would anyone be interested in running a coffee group for members? As a suggestion, a list of members interested in attending could be recorded at a Club meeting. A venue and date selected, the members interested in attending advised and asked to confirm their attendance for booking purposes. If you have any ideas for activity groups, please let me know.

I sympathise with our members participating in the football tipping. I am probably showing my bias, but the last two weeks the Age newspaper tipsters have not picked Essendon to win, and for both games you know who won, Essendon.

It has been pleasing to have visitors attending our meetings and hopefully I will be welcoming some new members in the near future.

Keep up the good work.

Peter Matthews

ps Last week we commemorated a special day and almost 94,000 fans attended a spectacular football match that ended in a hard fought draw. Speaking of Essendon, the match celebrated the 30 anniversary of the initial Bombers v Collingwood Anzac match in 1994, which incidentally, also ended in a draw.

“ANZAC Day is not about glorifying war.

It is about bearing witness to the aftermath of sacrifice.

It is about dedicating ourselves to a nation worth fighting for.”

Keith Wolahan - Federal Member for Menzies
