Brew and Chew

There always seems something to read in the newspapers and view on the “News” – and, so it is at Brew and Chew.

It is fair to say that the ins and outs of “Personalities” don’t get as much air-time at Camberwell Library as they do elsewhere, even when public figures are involved. But, of course, there are exceptions and, at this time of the year, football can be expected to be mentioned, if nothing else than in working out which team plays which next in the finals and whereabouts. In days past when there was just a final four, it seemed so much easier: but presumably less rewarding to the broadcasters and the AFL.

Given the age-profile of Brew and Chew and Auburn Probus in general, it is not surprising that the future is mentioned largely in contrast to the past, for example whether Tasmania will perform better than GWS or where the next rail line will be operated (although even our members are not quite old enough to remember the Outer-Circle line) or something about electric vehicles and fuel supplies.

Perhaps it is as well that passions are muted.
